Welcome to the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship application page.  We have prepared some answers to frequently asked questions, and have also provided an online application for prospective applicants who wish to apply. You might also download a physical application below.


What is the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship?

The Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship is a merit-based award offered to API students from or going to school in San Francisco who wants to get an education in preparation for a career in public service. In 2019 The Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to five students in the amount of $5,000 each. The scholarship may be applied to tuition only.

Who are the Rose Pak Scholars?

Rose Pak Scholars are API students who have been recognized by the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship as future leaders in the community. They have the drive to serve the community and have demonstrated leadership potential in the past that in time should enable them to improve the ways that public entities - be they government agencies, nonprofit organizations, public and private educational institutions, or advocacy organizations - serve the public good.

Who is eligible to receive a Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship?

Students who are entering or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university as an
undergraduate in the 2019 fall semester. Students must be a resident of San Francisco or go to school in San Francisco, a member of the API community, and from a low-income family.
Priority for applicants who are the first in their immediate families to attend college. Applicants must demonstrate experience of leadership and an intent to pursue a career in public service. A career in public service is defined as working in an area that will advance the empowerment and improvement of outcomes for low-income communities and communities of color. This can encompass working in a community-based nonprofit organization, the public sector, and elected office.

When will awardees be notified?

The application period for the 2019 Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship will be from March 1st, 2019 to July 31st, 2019. The recipients of the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship will be notified by Aug 15th and will be invited to attend the annual Rose Pak Community Fund gala (Date TBD) for the formal award presentation ceremony.

What documents do I need to complete the application?

In addition to the application, we require the following documents in order for your application to be considered by our scholarship committee:


     1) School transcript with GPA (within 90 days)

     2) 1 letter of recommendation

     3) If graduating H.S. senior, letter of acceptance from the college you plan to attend

     4) Proof of residency (Govt. I.D. Card, school letter, govt. letter etc.)

     5) FAFSA statement to verify any financial assistance you are receiving (if applicable)

Where can I get an application?

The application period for the 2019 Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship will be from March 1st, 2019 to July 31st, 2019. All applications must be received by 5pm on July 31st, 2019 to be eligible. Applications received after July 31st even if postmarked before July 31st will be disqualified. Paper applications can be picked up at 728 Sacramento Street, San Francisco, CA 94108. What if I have a question about the application?

All questions about the application should be addressed to info@rosepakcommunityfund.org. Only clarification questions will be answered. Please note that we cannot advise applicants on the substance of the application.


By starting the application process, I certify that I have read and understand the conditions of the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship as explained on this website.  I affirm that I plan to pursue a career in public service as defined herein, and that I am from a low-income family.  I affirm that all information on this application is my own work.  I further affirm the information contained herein is true and accurate to the best of my knowledge and belief. Falsifying information can result in my application being withdrawn immediately.

I understand that once I begin my application, I may not save my work and return later.  Please allow a minimum of 2 hours to complete the application in its entirety. Only one application per applicant, any duplicate applicants (online or paper) will be disqualified. 

Once an application is submitted, it may not be changed.
