Welcome to the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship application page.  We have prepared some answers to frequently asked questions, and have also provided an online application for prospective applicants who wish to apply. You might also download a physical application below.

What is the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship?

The Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship is a merit-based award offered to students of Asian and Pacific Islander (API) origin, who is from San Francisco Bay Area* and wants to get an education in preparation for a career in public service. The 2021 Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to five students in the amount up to $5,000 each. The scholarship may be applied to tuition only. We will not accept applications from international or foreign-exchange students.

Who are the Rose Pak Scholars?

Rose Pak Scholars are API students who have been recognized by the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship as future leaders in the community. They have the drive to serve the community and have demonstrated leadership potential in the past that in time should enable them to improve the ways that public entities - be they government agencies, nonprofit organizations, public and private educational institutions, or advocacy organizations - serve the public good.

Who is eligible to receive a Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship?

Asian Pacific Islander (API) students who are entering or currently enrolled in an accredited 4-year college or university as an undergraduate in 2021 fall or 2022 Spring semester. Students must be from San Francisco Bay Area, a member of the Asian Pacific Islander (API) community, and from a low-income family. Priority for applicants who are the first in their immediate families to attend college.


Applicants must demonstrate experience of leadership and an intent to pursue a career in public service. A career in public service is defined as working in an area that will advance the empowerment and improvement of outcomes for low-income communities and communities of color. This can encompass working in a community-based nonprofit organization, the public sector, and elected office.

How can I obtain and apply?

The application period will be from 3/15/2021 to 06/30/2021. All applications must be received by 5pm on 6/30/201 to be eligible (No exceptions). Applicants can apply online or download a paper application on Paper applications must be mailed to the following address via REGULAR MAIL ONLY:

What else do I need to submit in addition to the application?

In addition to your application, applicants must submit the following documents, failure to attach any of the supporting documents might result in disqualification of the applicant.


1) School transcript with GPA (within 90 days) *

2) If graduating H.S. senior or junior college transfer student, letter of acceptance from the college you plan to attend *

3) Proof of home residence (Govt. I.D. Card, school letter, govt. letter etc.) *

4) FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) *

5) 1 letter of recommendation (optional)

6) School financial aid/or cost of tuition report (optional)

7) Household main income earner's proof of unemployment (optional - see question PART VI – C and D)

(Please note that while document #5 to #7 are optional, we encourage applicants to submit those optional documents whenever applicable to give the scholarship selection committee a better understanding of your qualities and you or your family's financial burden relative to the cost of tuition.) 

When can I apply for the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship?

The application period for the 2021 Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship will be from 3/15/2021 to 6/30/2021. Recipients of the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship will be notified by the first week of August and will be invited to attend an award ceremony event in the fall of 2021. (Exact time of event will be announced at a later date).

Falsifying information can result in my application being withdrawn immediately.

Please allow a minimum of 2 hours to complete the application in its entirety. Only one application per applicant, any duplicate applicants (online or paper) will be disqualified. 

Once an application is submitted, it may not be changed.
