Thank you for your interest at the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship. We have prepared some answers to frequently asked questions and have also provided an online application for prospective applicants who wish to apply. You might also download a physical application at the bottom of the page.

Eligibility Criteria

Students of Asian and Pacific Islander Origin

Grade level: incoming Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior at a four-year university in 2024 – 2025

Student’s permanent resident must be from a San Francisco Bay Area County*

No Major requirements, but students must be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities and commitment to serve their own community.

International and foreign-exchange students are NOT eligible.

Students who has received full-ride scholarships for their undergraduate studies are NOT eligible.

What is the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship?
​
The Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship is a merit-based award offered to students of API origin from the San Francisco Bay Area* who wants to get an education in preparation for a career in public service. The 2024 Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to five students for up to $5,000 each. The scholarship may be applied to tuition only. We will not accept applications from international or
foreign-exchange students.

Who are the Rose Pak Scholars?
​
Rose Pak Scholars are API students recognized by the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship as future leaders in the community. They have the drive to serve the community. They have demonstrated leadership potential in the past that, in time, should enable them to improve how public entities - be they government agencies, nonprofit organizations, public and private educational institutions, or advocacy organizations - serve the public good.

Who is eligible to receive a Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship?
​
API students who are entering or currently enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university as an undergraduate in the 2024 Fall or 2025 Spring semester. Student's permanent residence must be from San Francisco Bay Area counties*, a member of the API community, and from a low-income family. Priority for applicants who are the first in their immediate families to attend college.
Applicants must demonstrate experience of leadership and an intent to pursue a career in public service. A career in public service is defined as working in an area that will advance the empowerment and improvement of outcomes for low-income communities and communities of color. This can encompass working in a community-based nonprofit organization, the public sector, and elected office.

Can International or Foreign Exchange students apply?

No, we DO NOT ACCEPT applications from International or Foreign Exchange students.

How can I obtain and apply?
​
2024 application will be accepted until 6/30/2024. All applications must be received or submitted online by 5 pm on 6/30/2024 to be eligible (No exceptions). Applicants can apply online or download a paper application on www.rosepakcommunityfund.org/scholarship. Paper applications must be mailed to the following address via REGULAR MAIL ONLY:

What else do I need to submit in addition to the application?
​
In addition to your application, applicants must submit the following documents; failure to attach any supporting documents might result in disqualification of the applicant.
​
1) School transcript with GPA (generated within 90 days of application – unofficial transcripts will be accepted) **
2) If graduating H.S. senior or junior college transfer student, letter of acceptance from the college you plan to attend**
3) Proof of home residence (Govt. I.D. Card, school letter, govt. letter etc.) **
4) FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) **
5) 1 letter of recommendation (optional)
6) Household main income earner's proof of financial hardship (optional - see question PART IV – C)

(Please note that while documents #5 and #6 are optional, we encourage applicants to submit those optional documents whenever applicable to give the scholarship selection committee a better understanding of your qualities and you or your family's financial hardship relative to the cost of tuition.)

When can I apply for the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship?
​
The application period for the 2024 Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship will end on 6/30/2024 - 5 pm. Recipients of the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship will be notified by the first week of August and will be invited to attend an award ceremony event in the fall of 2024. (Exact date of event will be communicated to the winning applicants in the future).

Is the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship renewable?
No, the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship is non-renewable. Past applicants are not allowed to re-apply.
