2024 Rose Pak Memorial Scholars

After carefully considering the Rose Pak Community Fund scholarship committee, we awarded eight outstanding API college students the 2024 Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship. These students demonstrated not only outstanding academic and leadership qualities but also the willingness to give back to the community in the future with their education. Each scholarship recipient was awarded a one-time scholarship toward school tuition to lessen the financial burden of their studies.

Erika Jiang (江禧)

Burlingame, CA

Erika is the youngest daughter of two Chinese immigrants from Guangdong. As a first-generation student attending U.C. Santa Barbara, her degree in Political Science with a minor in Poverty, Inequality, and Social Justice will guide her towards a direct approach of fighting against inequality in the legal system. After completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to attend law school to pursue civil rights law.

Jason Huang (黃嘉豪)

San Francisco, CA

currently attends San Jose State University majoring in Data Analytics. After his graduation he plans to work in either the public health sector or for non-profit organizations, where he will contribute to help the community. He has not let his difficulties in life affect his outook–he
wants to be a good example to others, and to study hard in college.

Heizel Ka Hei Chan (陳嘉熙)

San Francisco, CA

Heizel a senior at U.C. Berkeley majoring in Economics, is currently pursuing pre-med. Upon completing her undergraduate studies, she aims to take a gap year before pursuing medical school.. She plans to work as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or a researcher to gain valuable clinical experience, save money for grad school, and provide a better life for her family. Her ultimate goal is to become a pediatrician, a passion she has long nurtured.

Kevin Nie (聶曉洋)

San Francisco, CA

Kevin was born and raised in San Francisco, and is currently a senior at U.C.L.A. majoring in electrical engineering with an interest in mechanical engineering. His career goal is to work in the transportation sector
in the Bay Area. As one with relatives who suffer from disabilities, he is
determined to combine his passion for technology with his love for the
community to create a safe, inclusive and more accessible transportation
system.

Rich Wu (吳澤國)

San Francisco, CA

is an incoming freshman at the University of Southern California, studying industrial engineering. Alongside personal interests of finance and tech, Rich’s roots in Chinatown have kept him grounded in activism within the Chinese-American community. He hopes to bring his talents to companies and startups focused on bridging the gap for all underserved communities affected by inequities in our healthcare system.

San Francisco, CA

Tiffany is a recent graduate from San Francisco’s Ruth Asawa School of the Arts who studies Civil and Environmental Engineering at U.C. Davis. She looks forward to continuing her education after graduating with a masters in urban planning. Growing up in a less developed and economically disadvantaged
part of San Francisco, Tiffany aspires to work with the City to design safer neighborhoods for immigrant and low income households.

Oakland, CA

aspiring to forge a career as a software engineer full-time, Veronica is driven by her passion for the field. She currently majors in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at U.C. Berkeley. As a second-generation immigrant, she finds immense fulfillment in breaking barriers in the field of engineering while honoring her heritage. Beyond her professional ambitions, she is deeply committed to storytelling. Writing allows her to explore and preserve her family’s journey and cultural heritage.

Xiaoying Xian

San Francisco, CA

is an incoming freshman at U.C. Davis. She is majoring in Environmental Science and Management. As a new immigrant, she recognizes the substantial help and support she received from her community, and she plans to repay this support by using her voice and passion for environmental justice to create better living environments for the community.
